Petr Cech thinks current Team has lot of Potential

Petr Cech may not been involved in much of Chelsea’s current campaign, but he believes that this current team has immense potential.

The Chelsea team constructed by Jose Mourinho during 2005 went on to become a hugely successful in many regards. The spine of the team was responsible for numerous trophies including the Champions League in 2012. Mourinho has once again created a new spine for this team with young blood like Diego Costa and Courtois.Cech continues to be on the verge of an exit, but he says that the end of the season will provide a good barometer as to how this Chelsea team can be compared to the team of 2004-05.

Cech has been the number one goalkeeper for Chelsea since coming to the club in 2004, but he recently lost the place to Courtois. It looks highly unlikely that Mourinho will revert back toCech unless there is a catastrophic drop in the form of the Belgian international. Courtois has not been spectacular, but he has also not been for either. It is believed that the 21-year-old will only improve as the years go by. Cech has been linked with several clubs as the transfer window approaches. Even Liverpool, who are seen as a direct competitor for Chelsea, have been linked with an offer.

“You always look for a response when you have a game when you don’t win and it is not going the way you want. You need to find a way to win the next game. It was not an easy one but we managed to get a good result out of that and we controlled it for most of the game because Hull didn’t have a shot on target. It is obviously nice to have the game time and the most pleasant part is to have the clean sheet and three points because Hull made it hard for us although we had a good start,” said Cech.
